The US–South African Boer Goat Breeders Alliance (US-SABGBA) is governed by a formal Constitution, Operating Agreement, and Breeders Policies designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and long-term stability. Our governance structure protects the integrity of the breed, the interests of our members, and the credibility of the Alliance at both national and international levels.

Constitutional Framework & Legal Standing

US-SABGBA operates as a legally established entity governed by its Constitution, internal rules, and bylaws. These documents define the Alliance’s authority, decision-making processes, membership rights, and disciplinary procedures. They also establish alignment with South African Studbook principles while ensuring compliance with United States laws and operational realities.

This framework ensures consistency, fairness, and continuity in all Alliance actions, from inspections and registrations to shows, auctions, and breeder representation.

Council, Executive Committee & Leadership

The Alliance is led by a Council and Executive Committee responsible for strategic direction, policy enforcement, and day-to-day governance. Leadership positions include the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer/Administrator, and elected Council Members. Together, they oversee inspections, judge and inspector appointments, financial stewardship, member compliance, and external representation.

To ensure stability and proper establishment, founding leadership serves fixed terms, with future elections conducted transparently through member voting as defined in the Constitution.

Standards, Oversight & Member Accountability

Governance within US-SABGBA extends beyond leadership to active oversight of breed standards, inspections, registrations, and member conduct. The Alliance enforces clear policies for inspections, animal identification, breeding practices, auctions, and shows. Disciplinary processes—including appeals—are in place to protect fairness while maintaining high standards.

Through structured oversight, the Alliance safeguards breeders, buyers, and the future of the Boer goat by ensuring ethical practices, accurate records, and consistent application of standards.
